Lee Welborn is an Atlanta native, having grown up in College Park underneath the flight paths of planes flying in and out of Hartsfield Atlanta Airport. He obtained a history degree from Georgia State University in 1985, and a law degree from the University of Georgia Law School in 1988. While in law school, Lee had the privilege of studying under Professor Perry Sentell who instilled in him a life-long love of tort law.

Lee has been a practicing attorney at the law firm of Downey & Cleveland, LLP since 1988. His practice has consisted primarily of handling the defense of cases arising from automobile wrecks, premises liability and construction accidents, but he has also represented many plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Lee is a published author who enjoys writing fiction and non-fiction. He and his wife Julie live in Acworth and are actively involved in church and ministry to children in foster care.
